Biofalu (Eco village)

This is a recommendation by Zsófi, my flatmate.
http://www.biofalu.hu/
The site is unfortunately only in Hungarian..., but you can check more photos here:
http://www.biofalu.hu/index.php?option=com_phocagallery&view=category&id=2:bk&Itemid=0

It's an eco village where some families and people are living in their own built, mostly sustainable houses, surroundings and environment. They make their own fireplaces and they do farming for themselves, but beside this, they give a big importance to the philosophy of their lifestyle. They have some meditation, yoga and interesting few days long workshops for example about woman and man (sexual) energies. They have a really cool "Waldorf" type alternative school for their children.
The eco village is welcoming volunteers, and as I read it on the website, they never have enough! They offer food and accommodation for the help.
We could go for a visit in the spring, and maybe when you are already a fluent hungarian speaker, we could take part in some workshops as well ;)

The location is about 2 hours by bus from Budapest.

Őrség

This eastern land of Hungary is really special humpy, shaped by streams. Fresh green meadows, pine, oak and bleech tree forests and cristal clean streams and little villages hidden on the top of the hills are completing each other in a wonderful landscape. It's at the border with Austria, so for a long time it used to be a natural border without any population, that did very good for the nature. The population is still very low so it was staying almost untouched.
We could have an amazing bike trip there in the summer! :D

Ludwig Museum

http://www.ludwigmuseum.hu/

"Ludwig Museum - Museum of Contemporary Art collects and displays masterworks of modern and contemporary art. The permanent collection contains valuable pieces of American pop art (Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg etc.). Yet focusing on Eastern and Central European art, it also puts a special emphasis on presenting the Hungarian art of the 60's to recent days in an international context. Besides, temporary exhibitions showcase leading artists of the international scene as well as the best-known Hungarian masters. Be sure to explore the Museum's colourful place which is indeed a contemporary work of art as well."

The location is in the south of Pest on the riverside, where you can easily get by the tram no.2 or by bike. It's a kind of bikeride like to Serralves ;)

MOME EcoLab

MOME EcoLab is the sustaninability research lab of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest.

THE LAB

The lab comprises researchers coming from various different backgrounds. In an interdisciplinary environment they work on applied research problems based on specific projects. Their aim is to develop innovative design solutions that have sustainable values regarding social, ecological and economic benefits.
Led by young designers of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), the Lab includes product designers, architects, landscape architects, economists, sociologists, design managers and sustainability experts.

Panni is also in the team as product designer and sociologist! :)

They are organizing some events about sustainability, like talks and documentary film sessions. Last week they projected the No impact man, almost the same time you did in Sardinia! :)

I was also studying at MOME!
