Életfa Természetbarát Egyesület (Life tree Environmentally friendly Association)

http://eletfaegyesulet.webnode.hu/fenykepgaleria/

This association was founded by a Berta (a friend from the highschool) and her husband.

Their goal is to help the society to develop a more healthy, environmentally friendly, sustainable  lifestyle. Educating them on the way of thinking through preserving and protecting the environment, and develop self-awareness.

They have a sustainable farm, where they welcome short and long term volunteers.
They often organize yoga, tai-chi and dance workshops, but also meditation, with building a "sweat lodge" .

ZÖFI

http://zofi.hu/

"ZÖFI - Hungarian Young Greens was founded in 2001. ZöFi is an independent NGO, consisting of young and enthusiastic people, including many volunteers who take part in a wide range of projects aimed at promoting a more sustainable environment and society. ZöFi connects the 'classical' issues of nature conservation and the protection of the environment (both natural and urban) with a host of other issues concerning the protection of civil rights, human dignity, solidarity, equal opportunity, the caring for marginalised minorities and more. ZöFi is not affiliated with any political party. "

One of my friend Sára Szabo is a member, and she recommended that you should apply there to take part in the projects or develop new projects or to make workshops.

Biofalu (Eco village)

This is a recommendation by Zsófi, my flatmate.
http://www.biofalu.hu/
The site is unfortunately only in Hungarian..., but you can check more photos here:
http://www.biofalu.hu/index.php?option=com_phocagallery&view=category&id=2:bk&Itemid=0

It's an eco village where some families and people are living in their own built, mostly sustainable houses, surroundings and environment. They make their own fireplaces and they do farming for themselves, but beside this, they give a big importance to the philosophy of their lifestyle. They have some meditation, yoga and interesting few days long workshops for example about woman and man (sexual) energies. They have a really cool "Waldorf" type alternative school for their children.
The eco village is welcoming volunteers, and as I read it on the website, they never have enough! They offer food and accommodation for the help.
We could go for a visit in the spring, and maybe when you are already a fluent hungarian speaker, we could take part in some workshops as well ;)

The location is about 2 hours by bus from Budapest.

MOME EcoLab

MOME EcoLab is the sustaninability research lab of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest.

THE LAB

The lab comprises researchers coming from various different backgrounds. In an interdisciplinary environment they work on applied research problems based on specific projects. Their aim is to develop innovative design solutions that have sustainable values regarding social, ecological and economic benefits.
Led by young designers of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), the Lab includes product designers, architects, landscape architects, economists, sociologists, design managers and sustainability experts.

Panni is also in the team as product designer and sociologist! :)

They are organizing some events about sustainability, like talks and documentary film sessions. Last week they projected the No impact man, almost the same time you did in Sardinia! :)

I was also studying at MOME!

Közösségi Kertek (Community Gardens)

The site is only in Hungarian, but I guess you will be able to read it in a few months! ;)

Cellux Csoport (Cellux Art Group)

"The Cellux Art Group has organized recycling art workshops since 2006, where we communicate through the means of creation and activity. As a result of work, mostly, we create articles for personal use, which can be easily adapted to the everyday lives of the participants. Thus, these articles bring onwards the message of the importance of environmental thinking."
